A Blast from the Past

When I first saw these papers, My Reflections Good Times from Close To My Heart, it just screamed "retro" to me. And retro mean to me anything from the 70's and 80's. The pictures I used were from a trip we took to Denver in the summer of 1981. I just found out I was pregnant with Kevin. It was the first time meeting anyone from Dave's family. Sure glad it wasn't everyone all at once. He has such a big family, I think it would have been a bit overwhelming. As it was I got to meet his mom, his sister, Nancy, and his brothers, Pete and Tim. The picture was taken just as we were saying our good-byes and heading back to Las Vegas. Tim joined us on our return and spent the summer with us. We did alot of traveling that summer and got to see alot of California.

Mission Organization - Before and After

Greetings once again from the Rubber Room!

I thought I would share my before and after pictures of what I've done in my rubber room. I can't seem to keep this room as organized as I would like...then after lots of contemplation and procrastination...I just jumped in with both feet and got my hinney in high gear and this is what I've done.
A great big Thank you to Mary Vogel for the idea of hanging paper packs. Its just gives me more added space.
The before:

This is kinda the norm when I get ready for a workshop, or when I'm into a big project. I pull things out and drag them out to the livingroom to work on. I can't always work here in my room since I share it with the twins when they are here.
This is a close up of my ribbon collection:

Please no comments about the TV remote in there. LOL Its an old one and when I scoop I grab everything! LOL
Here are the after pics:
Many many thanks to JennD for her suggestion on using the canning jars. I picked mine up at Ace Hardware for $10...but I also saw them in the grocery store for about the same price. I sorted a spools of ribbon up in the gutter according to the color spectrum. ROYGBIV I put the white and pink before the red and the browns and black at the end. It may not look all that neat but when I go to use my ribbon, I pull out the whole spool. I thought about drilling holes in the gutter...it wouldn't suit my purpose.

This is the whole wall now. Notice the brown pizza boxes...I'll explain about that in a minute.

Inside the wardrobe:
I had to move my boxes of stamps since I put my ribbon jars up on that shelf. So, I did some rearranging on the book shelf.

I had all my My Accents and embellishments in more than one place. I didn't know what I had and it was always so messed up;

I plan on decorating the pizza boxes eventually. I put just about everything in the pizza boxes, buttons, wire, mesh, My Accents. So when I got to do a project, I can pull the whole box and have all the embellishments right there.
With all the different places I scrapbook within my house...I think this will work best for me. Clean up won't be so difficult.

Mission Organization

Greetings once again from the Rubber Room!

A few weeks ago, I asked a group of friends, what are their main/basic supplies they have on their work table/scrap area. I got a lot of responses. Thank you everyone who responded to my question.
I had a dual purpose in asking this question.
1. With the New Year upon us, its appears to me all my friends are starting to clean up and reorganize their craft room/area, I thought it would be helpful to all of them by starting off with the basics. See if you have all of these items close by.
2. The other reason I asked, was to help me organize my little rolling cart. Not sure if you all know that I have two 2 year twins that come "home" every Thursday through Sunday. I share my rubber room with them. So, when they are sleeping, I work out in the livingroom on my various projects. But when they return to their mother, I can move back to the rubber room and continue on with my projects. I didn't want to have to duplicate (even though I could) for both areas. I made up this little rolling cart and it moves really easily from one place to another. I have taken pictures of my little cart and the basic tools I use a lot and would like to share. But first here is the list (in no particular order) of the items everyone thought were important to have readily available.

Having this little trolley helps me stay even more organized than before. And it helps keep my work area clutter free (somewhat). You all know that adage...(I hear my mother's words) "Everything has a place, and everything belongs in that place...(so on and so forth!)LOL

This is only part of what occupied my weekend. The twins developed "pink eye" and I told my son not to bring them here. Pink eye is too highly contagious and they need to keep it confined. The twin's mother wasn't too pleased, but oh well!

I worked on getting the Rubber Room a bit more organized. Nothing like starting off the New Year, with a new perspective. Cleaning and reorganizing always helps the creative juices to flow. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time being creative when there is so much clutter around. So, that is what I did this weekend. I will post some pics of what I've done in the Rubber Room in the next few days. So stay tuned.

January Workshop Layouts

This past week as been one that will definitely go down in my history as the most hectic and memorable week. Not only have I prepared for my workshop which is tomorrow night, but also I have been do 50 6x6 recipe cards. To top the week off, little Emily Rose (my 7th grandchild) was born on January 23 at 4:01am. She weighed 5 lbs 9 oz and was 18.5 inches long. The layouts here, are of Emily's big sisters, Ivy and Allisson.

More to Share!

As promised, here is are the other layouts I have completed since the beginning of the year. As I have said before, until Daniel receives his album, I won't be able to share till then. Presently, I am working on a 2 page layout for my son, Michael. Its also for my monthly workshop. Once I get it completed, I'll be posting it here.

This layout is of my son, Kevin. It's Christmas 1982. He's only 10 months old and isn't walking yet. My mother made this sweater for him. So of course I had to get a picture of Kevin in his new sweater that his Mimi sent him to send to her. I saved this sweater and just recently gave it to Kevin for his boys.

This layout is of Kevin when he was 19 months old. We were in Iceland at that time. We just had a some sprinkling of snow. So, I bundled Kevin up in his snowsuit and out we went to play in the snow. He wasn't quite sure what to make of it. But once he discovered the fun he could have, I couldn't get the child to come inside.

Hi there and welcome to my first post on my blog. Bare with me as I try to learn all the new fangle things you can do with this blog. I am not totally computer illiterate, but darn close. If it wasn't for Jennifer over at just4funcrafts helping me, I would be totally lost. So thank you Jenn!

Just a little bit more about me:

I am a wife to Dave for almost 28 years. I have 3 grown children, 6 grandchildren (with number 7 due to arrive in January 2008)and three dogs. I am also an independent consultant for Close To My Heart. I signed up in March 2002. I love to sharing my pages and crafts using products from Close To My Heart. CTMH truly has something for everyone. I would love to show how easy it is to create beautiful artwork.
